MATLET Group CEO Provides Perspective at GNEMSDC Event

Pawtucket, RI – April 12, 2011 – The MATLET Group President and CEO Gary Stiffler, spoke at the recent Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council’s (GNEMSDC) event in Boston. Attending the first Capital and Minority Capacity Building Summit held at the Federal Reserve Bank, Mr. Stiffler served on a panel titled "Case studies: the Large MBE’s Perspective," in front of an audience that included high profile leaders representing various financial markets.
The GNEMSDC event on March 3 was designed to bring together financial and minority business leaders to help understand issues and improve the flow of capital directed to minority businesses. It attracted movers and shakers from private equity, public finance, venture capital and investment banking, in addition to commercial banking and minority business representatives. Mr. Stiffler’s panel, moderated by Proctor & Gamble’s Dwain Carver, included Carl Highsmith, the retired Vice Chairman of the Specialized Packaging Group, and Kelvin Bernard, President/CEO of Total Technical Services.
"This was by far the most in-depth session on this topic that I have ever attended and participated in," said Mr. Stiffler. "The event sold out early and one of the comments shared by those in attendance was how we need to conduct more of these types of events at the national level."
The Summit featured many prominent leaders. David Hinson, National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency, was the featured speaker at breakfast and Ralph Moore did the honors as keynote speaker at the luncheon. Another of the panel sessions brought together the Treasurers from the States of Connecticut (Denise Napier), Delaware (Chip Flowers) and Massachusetts (Steve Grossman) to discuss how their offices help in the provision of capital to minority owned enterprises.
